Charles "Bill" and Betty bought 240 acres on Digby Neck. The property had two houses and two bIarns on it when purchased. One barn blew down during a heavy wind. Each year as we drove off the ferry into Digby we took the time to drive by the house where Dad (Charles William Spittle, Sr) was born. I thought of it as visiting the monumIent to Dad. His father was a citizen of Canada and Carrie Lena Marr was a citizen of the USA having been born in Massachusetts so he had dual citizenship for a time. Dad's cemetery lot: Dad was always a bargain hunter. In his early 30'Is he got a good deal on cemetery plots and tried to talk his inlaws into buying lots with him. That seemed funny to me but now looking back I'm thinking it was probably because he had Lou Gehrig's disease and expected to use thos plots. He eIventually was buried in his bargain plot.{Cbirth certificate in possession of Margaret SpittleI1920 United States Federal Census Name: William E Sausser Age: 48 years Estimated birth year: 1871 Birthplace: Ohio Race: White Home in 1920: Amanda, Hancock, Ohio Home owned: View Image Sex: View Image MaritalI status: View Image Roll: T625_1385 Page: 2A ED: 43 Image: 0872IBirth information comes from Public member trees and is not sourced.
